BRANDON COX

Sitting on the J train on my way back from a busy day consisting of the Brooklyn Circus trunk show and a performance at the Brooklyn Museum, I met a group of eclectic young artists. Don't ask me how it happened but it did, one in particular was an artist by the name of Brandon Cox. I was then invited to the "I Know What You Did Last Summer" exhibition at St. Cecilias comprised of artists from the residency Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture. The exhibition took place in a convent with each room a different artists showing space. Arriving to the door was the usual suspects of socializing creatives, video footage being taken and someone in a Lady Gaga esque full body jumpsuit lurking about. Exploring the space, one of my favorite pieces was down in the basement, where I found a random kitchen. Opening the door to the oven I discovered a tunnel where people could crawl through and end up in a different room. Cox's work located on the third floor dealt alot with the black image and other social standpoints. Effectively positioning himself as a force in the art world, his work is also being shown at the Garment Room in Soho. Check out more from Brandon Cox at: http://www.bcoxart.com/

SIR SLEAZE

Keeping up with what my friends over in the UK are up to I stumbled upon a crazy mix to Estelle's Freak. My boy Sir Sleaze an experimental Artist/Producer/Remixer/Songwriter remixed this cool track into an even crazier twisted party track. I heard this mix for the first time when I was gettin ready for church this past Sunday, but before you judge me the freak shes talking about is in reference to a quirky rebel personality (its crazy how easily your mind goes toward the dirty haha). Definately keep an eye on more from Sir Sleaze and his exploits, bobbing and weaving through the music world:
